DJOHNSTL 5 Talent More
David Anthony Johnson is a professional motivational speaker, inspirational solo artist, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. impressionist, historical story-teller, songwriter, inventor and youth motivator for more than 30 years. His ministry is called, 5 Talents More. He uses his talents to inspire others to use their talents positively to make a difference in our communities. David has performed for and has shared the stage with Civil Rights activists such as the late Mrs. Rosa Parks; Mr. Johnnie L. Cochran; Ms. Maya Angelou; Mr. James Meredith (the first Black to break the color barrier at Ole Miss University in 1963); former Georgia state senator, and colleague of Dr. Martin Luther King, Horace Julian Bond; former Negro Leagues and Baseball Hall of Famer, James “Cool Papa” Bell; professional musicians and actors, including Oakwood University classmate Brian McKnight, T.C. Carson (of the sitcom Living Single fame) and others to name a few.
David has a wealth of experience in youth motivation. He has spent years motivating young people as a church youth director and pastor, as a youth counselor in group homes and as a juvenile probations corrections officer over criminal youth.
David offers a wide range of programs and services from youth week of prayers and summits, preaching at church-related events, Black History-themed programs, musical concerts with stories of the American slave narratives. He has been a solo vocalist at many weddings and banquets. David has lent his talents to do voice-over work and much more. David is also in demand as a speaker and vocalist at many churches, group homes, prisons, universities, colleges, high schools, elementary schools, and military bases to name a few.
As an experienced youth motivator, David sees that many of the young and young at heart struggle with having healthy self-esteem. Many have experienced an abusive upbringing, being victims of bullyism, battles with depression and feelings of low to no self-worth. As a result, he has seen that many troubled folks are holding their God-given talents hostage because of these issues. David tries to motivate the young and young at heart to release those talents by helping others in need. By doing so, many can heal by being the cause of the healing of others. As a singer/songwriter, David released a CD in 1995 entitled, The More. David co-produced the project, writing five of the tracks. In 2009, David was awarded a United States Patent for his educational word game, soon to become a mobile application that will help to improve one’s vocabulary and grammar skills and to improve one’s English as a Second Language skills. David was raised by his great-grandmother, his mother and aunt to realize that God had given him special gifts and talents. They also instilled into him the importance of honoring God with those gifts and talents by helping others to realize and to use their gifts and talents for God’s glory.
David uses his great-grandmother as his biggest inspiration. She taught David the importance of loving his brothers and sisters of all walks of life. She was the daughter of a Tennessee slave. Growing up, he always saw her helping people in many ways at church, in their neighborhood and in their community. She inspired David to learn the Dr. Martin Luther King speeches because she said that she admired him for giving up his life for the cause of love, to free his brothers and sisters of all races. She also said “David, if you do not use your talents for God’s glory, you will have to answer for it, when He returns on Judgement Day!” So, David makes it his mission to love, lead, inspire and motivate others by example.
David has been in demand and has taken his talents all over the United States, parts of Africa, Europe and Asia.
